Gautama Buddha was born in the times of ancient India. He was spiritual and religious teacher, philosopher, great meditator and leader. According to Buddhist tradition Lord Buddha was born in around 480 BCE in Lumbini which is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District located in Nepal. 

His birthday is celebrated as Buddha Purnima in many countries such as Nepal, India and Bangladesh. It is believed that he was born on full moon night. 

Gautama Buddha is regarded as founder of Buddhism. 

His Childhood name was Siddhartha.

Buddha was born in aristocratic family known as Gotama which belongs to Shakyas. His father's name was Suddhodana who was chief of Shakya dynasty and mother's name was Maya Devi, she died when he was infant. After that Buddha was raised and looked after by his step mother Mahapajapati Gotami.

 According to later traditional biographies such as the Mahavastu and the Lalitavistara, his mother Maya was a Koliyan princess. 

His wife name was Yashodhara and son's name was Rahul. 

It is known that Gautama Buddha left his palace and luxury life to see outside world and in search of peace. It is believed that Gautama's father as shielding him from religious teachings and from knowledge of human suffering, so that he would able to become a great king instead of a great religious leader. Many biographies depicts that after seeing the four sights, Gautam woke up at night and was shocked when he saw his female servant lying in corpse like pose. Therefore he discovered that he would later understand very deeply Human suffering during his enlightenment. Moved by all things discovered by him, he decided to leave his palace in the middle of night and decided to live life of wandering ascetic. Leaving behind his palace he left his son Rahul and Yasodhara. Accompanied by Chandaka and riding his horse Kanthaka, He travelled to the river Anomiya, and there he decided to cut off his hair. After Leaving his servant and horse behind, he journeyed into the woods and changed into monk's robes there, though in some other versions of the story it depicts that he received the robes from a Brahma deity at Anomiya. 

When the ascetic Gautama first went to Rajagaha (now it is known as Rajgir), King Bimbisara of Magadha learned of his quest, and offered him a share of his kingdom to Gautama Buddha. Gautama rejected the offer but he promised to visit his kingdom first, upon attaining enlightenment. Following his decision to stop extreme ascetic practices, Gautama sat down to meditate with the determination not to get up until full awakening had been reached. It is said that this practice occurred under a Pipal tree named Bodhi Tree which is situated in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. 

He died at the age of 80 years in 400 BCE in Kushinagar which is located in India in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

गौतम बुद्ध का जन्म प्राचीन भारत के समय में हुआ था। वह आध्यात्मिक और धार्मिक शिक्षक, दार्शनिक, महान ध्यानी और नेता थे। बौद्ध परंपरा के अनुसार भगवान बुद्ध का जन्म लुम्बिनी में लगभग 480 ईसा पूर्व में हुआ था जो कि नेपाल में स्थित रूपन्दी जिले में एक बौद्ध तीर्थ स्थल है।

उनके जन्मदिन को नेपाल, भारत और बांग्लादेश जैसे कई देशों में बुद्ध पूर्णिमा के रूप में मनाया जाता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि उनका जन्म पूर्णिमा की रात को हुआ था।

गौतम बुद्ध को बौद्ध धर्म का संस्थापक माना जाता है।

उनका बचपन का नाम सिद्धार्थ था। बुद्ध का जन्म एक कुलीन परिवार में हुआ था जिसे गोतमा के नाम से जाना जाता है जो शाक्यों से संबंधित है। उनके पिता का नाम सुधोधना था जो शाक्य वंश के प्रमुख थे और माता का नाम माया देवी था, जब वह शिशु थे तब उनकी मृत्यु हो गई थी। उसके बाद बुद्ध की परवरिश हुई और उनकी सौतेली माँ महाजापति गोतमी ने उनकी देखभाल की।

 महावास्तु और ललितविस्तार जैसी बाद की पारंपरिक आत्मकथाओं के अनुसार, उनकी माँ माया एक कोलियन राजकुमारी थीं।

उनकी पत्नी का नाम यशोधरा और पुत्र का नाम राहुल था।

ऐसा माना जाता है कि गौतम बुद्ध ने अपने महल और सुखी जीवन को बाहरी दुनिया और शांति की तलाश में छोड़ दिया था। ऐसा माना जाता है कि गौतम के पिता ने उन्हें धार्मिक शिक्षाओं से और मानव पीड़ा के ज्ञान से दूर रखा, ताकि वे एक महान धार्मिक नेता के बजाय एक महान राजा बन सकें। कई जीवनी में दर्शाया गया है कि चार स्थलों को देखने के बाद, गौतम रात में उठा और जब वह अपनी महिला नौकर को लाश की तरह मुद्रा में पड़ा देखा तो चौंक गया। इसलिए उसे पता चला कि वह बाद में अपने ज्ञानोदय के दौरान मानव पीड़ा को बहुत गहराई से समझेगा। उसके द्वारा खोजे गए सभी चीजों से प्रेरित होकर, उसने अपने महल को रात के बीच में छोड़ने का फैसला किया और भटकते हुए जीवन जीने का फैसला किया। अपने महल को पीछे छोड़ते हुए उन्होंने अपने बेटे राहुल और यशोधरा को छोड़ दिया। चांडक से प्रेरित और अपने घोड़े कांथाका की सवारी करते हुए, उन्होंने अनोमिया नदी की यात्रा की, और वहां उन्होंने अपने बाल काटने का फैसला किया। अपने नौकर और घोड़े को पीछे छोड़ने के बाद, वह जंगल में कूच कर गया और वहाँ भिक्षु के वेश में बदल गया, हालांकि कहानी के कुछ अन्य संस्करणों में यह दर्शाया गया है कि उसे एनोमिया में एक ब्रह्मा देवता से वस्त्र प्राप्त हुए थे।

उनकी मृत्यु 80 वर्ष की आयु में 400 ईसा पूर्व कुशीनगर में हुई जो भारत में उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य में स्थित है।
